Ohio Kids Cards available at Delaware Library

Delaware, OH 43015 April 22, 2001—Beginning this month, Governor Taft will kick off the Ohio Kids Card program. This program, modeled on the successful Golden Buckeye Card, will provide discounts to the parents of Ohio children.  Delaware County District Library, 84 E. Winter St. will be a distribution point for the new Ohio Kids Card.

The Ohio Kids Card program has partnered with the Ohio Department of Health and “strives to reduce the financial burden of raising children while also providing families with important information on wellness and child development,” according to the their brochure.

The Ohio Kids Card program is currently involved in a statewide recruitment of nearly 40,000 Ohio businesses.  These businesses are being invited to offer discounts on goods and services to Ohio Kids Card families.  Each business voluntarily participates and individually defines the discount it will provide to Ohio Kids Card members.  Participating business will prominently display Ohio Kids Card decals.

Families with children under the age of six are eligible for the Ohio Kids Card.  Families with more than one child under six are encouraged to list all eligible children on one application.

To apply for an Ohio Kids Card, parents or guardians must complete and sign the application form available at Delaware County District Library and its branches in Powell and Ostrander.  Applicants need only sign that they are the parent or guardian and show proof of their identification; they do not have to show proof of their relationship to the child.

Ohio Kids Card will expire on December 31 of the year that the youngest child in the family turns six years of age.
