Rarely is an author truly associated with writing truly great toddler age books, but Byron Barton may be the King of Toddler Books! Many of his works captivate and lend themselves to being the perfect book for many toddlers. The combination of playful illustrations, simple text and fun subjects make Barton’s books stand out.

One of my favorites is Trains: In this tale, the reader follows the journey of a train, learns about different types of trains, and shares in the different environments trains travel. Great literacy activities for this book include encouraging children point to the track on each page, finding specific colors on buildings or on train cars, and pointing to and saying letters on the page.
