Banned Books Week, September 30 – October 6, is an annual event that celebrates the freedom to read! This year marks the 30th Anniversary! Believe it or not books are still being challenged and sometimes removed. One example is Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James, which has been banned in several places throughout the United States. However, in the majority of cases, challenged books have remained available because of the efforts of librarians, teachers, students and community members who stand up and speak out for the freedom to read!

Check out this list of the Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books. Have you read any of these books? Are any of them your favorites? Leave a comment by clicking on the blog title above.
