Add a Library Card to Your School Supply List!

Blog Section:

If you have school aged children, you are no doubt getting them ready to start school. While you buying all of those needed supplies, don’t forget the most important one: a Delaware County District Library card!

Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school. September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the Delaware Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that every student has a free library card.

Community Heroes Save the Day at Ostrander

What do Batman, Supergirl and our community helpers have in common?  They are all super heroes.  Last Thursday evening the Ostrander  branch hosted a gathering of local super heroes, including  the Red Cross,  EMTs,  the Fire Department, the Humane Society, the National Guard, the Police Department and of course Batman and Supergirl.  It was a beautiful night for exploring vehicles and learning about each job.

A couple months ago, we even had to add a couple spare copies of some of our most popular games just to keep up with demand.

Children of all ages were able to pet the animals and enjoy the many sights and sounds that they brought with them. Questions were asked and answered, pictures taken, and books checked out to learn more at this fun filled event.

The Ostrander Branch Library has been closed for the remainder of the day, Tuesday, July 14, due to a loss in power. The Scioto Township History 101 program scheduled for tonight has also been canceled due to the power loss and inclement weather.

We plan to re-open the branch tomorrow at its regular hours.

Preservation Parks Visits Ostrander

Blog Section:

Ostrander’s 6-8 year olds had a great time with Preservation Parks.  They learned all about our local reptiles, insects and arachnids.  As an added treat we got to hold a tarantula and a box turtle.  The tarantula isn’t from around Ohio but we welcomed her anyway.

Join us next Thursday, July 16 at 2 PM for Horse Heroes; a Delaware County Sheriff will be here with his horse.
