Discovery Bag A Library in a Bag

Many daycare providers find in difficult if not impossible to bring all the children they are caring for to the library. While transporting several children is a challenge, providing access to picture books, board books, and other age-appropriate library material is important to the development of small children.

To bridge this gap, the Delaware County District Library has created dozens of “Discovery Bags.” These large, clear bags contain books, videos, DVDs, puppets, games, toys, and information on a variety of subjects of interest to young children, such as COMMUNITY HELPERS, INSECTS, FARM ANIMALS, FOOD, FAIRY TALES and many more.

Daycare providers who are eligible for this service receive a different Discovery Bag each month, delivered by the Outreach Services staff.
