After-Hours Art Exhibition: Uncovering the Layers
High school students, family and friends of all ages are welcome to attend this after-hours event at the Powell Branch Library any time between 6 and 8 PM. We will be transforming the Powell Branch Library into an art gallery to feature the talented photography of Olentangy Liberty High School students. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
Uncovering the Layers
Olentangy Liberty High School students were asked to select a series of prompts by which to analyze their own peer population. The questions the artists choose to pursue included:
- What makes you smile?
- What would you do if fear didn’t limit you?
- What do you value most in life?
- How do you define yourself?
The end result was an anthropological study of the bizarre microcosm that we call High School, and the unique personalities that inhibit it. The prompts allowed students to learn new aspects of one another; at times sad, funny, or other times surprising. By taking the time to talk to one another, and see how wonderfully different each response and perspective is, students found themselves tearing down pre-conceived notions and stereotypes of the students they saw walking the halls.
This is us Uncovering the Layers.
