Powell Branch Library Open House
The Delaware County District Library is pleased to announce the grand re-opening of the Powell Branch Library. Sunday, February 24 from noon to 3:00 PM, the Library will be hosting a community open house to show off recent renovations to the branch.
The open house will have a lively twist to it, as self-guided tours will be inspired by the "Choose Your Own Adventure" series of books. The fun begins at noon with a variety of activities that include self-guided tours with a Choose Your Own Adventure theme. DCDL staff will be on hand to provide visitors with information on the building, discuss services and programs offered by the library system, and sign new patrons up for a DCDL library card. Refreshments and entertainment will also be provided throughout the opening.
The Powell Branch Library will be open for business the day of the open house and patrons may check out books and other materials on this day. Library hours are from noon to 5:00 PM on Sunday.
The Powell Branch Library, located at 460 S. Liberty Street, within Library Park, is approximately 5,000 square feet. The renovated branch now boasts a new computer lab outfitted with 6 new public internet computers, 2 new tween internet computers, a new ADA compliant circulation desk, and several new “quieter” study spaces. Special spaces include new “quieter” study spaces, an amazing new children’s area, a special teen space, self-pick-up of holds, and new self-check terminals. With the updates, the branch more than doubled its seating and table space for patron use and renovated the front outside sidewalk area for increased accessibility. Lastly, walls were given a face-lift with fresh paint, the carpet and tile replaced, and the library vestibule was cleared to better serve community information needs as well as Friends of the Library space.
