Come to a Delaware County Library starting June 8, where you will register and pick up a Reading Log. Use your Reading Log to keep track of how many minutes you read. Bring your Reading Log whenever you come to the library. A staff member will stamp your log for every hour that you read.
Come to any of our 4 locations in Delaware, Powell, Orange or Ostrander or our Bookmobile stops in Kilbourne and Radnor. You can join anytime between June 8 and August 2.
You can read anything you want to read. If you want suggestions, we have lists of “great books” divided by age level (from babies to teens) and adult book discussion titles that we recommend. We also have lists of beginning readers and several topical lists. Copies of these are available at all locations.
Parents or older siblings can read to children. We also have many excellent books on CD that children can listen to.
We have programs for young children, school age children, teens and families. Program schedules are available at the library or at our online events calendar.
Registration is only needed for a few programs and it will be specified in the program description. If you want more information about any of the programs, please check our online events calendar or call and ask to speak to a Children’s Librarian.
For the Ages 0-5, Grades K-5, and Grades 6-12 programs, you may choose from our prize basket when you've read at least 6 hours. Once you've read 12 hours, you will receive a free book. Adults who register and are actively logging titles will be entered to win in a branch weekly drawing for gift certificates to various locations. Once kids have read 12 hours and adults have read 3 books, an additional entry is placed in the grand prize drawing! A new bonus prize has also been provided to kids and teens from our friends at the Ohio Machine lacrosse team. Read about it here.
Yes, teens have a Summer Reading Club and we have teen programs at all 4 locations. Teens are also welcome to attend the family programs or volunteer to help at programs. If you are interested in volunteering, please check our Volunteen page for details. Teens who read 12 hours are entered in the grand prize drawing to win a Kindle Fire.
Yes, adults have a Summer Reading Club and programs at all 4 locations, as well. Adults are asked to register and track their books read online, if able. Once adults begin logging books, they are entered to win in weekly prize drawings for local business gift cards. The adult Summer Reading Club is completed when 3 books have been logged. For every 3 books logged, an additional entry into the grand prize drawing for a Barnes and Noble gift card is earned.
